ATLANTA — Two Atlanta chefs are up for one of the most prestigious awards in the culinary world: the James Beard Award.

Essentially the Oscars of the restaurant world, this year's nominees include Parnass Savang and Rod Lassiter, who are both nominated together in the Best Chef: Southeast category.

The two co-own the Summerhill restaurant Talat Market, which uses Thai technique with local Georgia ingredients.

In total, Georgia had seven semifinalists for James Beard awards earlier in the year across multiple categories. However Savang and Lassiter are the only ones to advance to the next round.

Winners will be revealed at a ceremony in Chicago on June 10.
