ATLANTA — A security guard was shot after an argument led to an altercation at an Atlanta restaurant and lounge Wednesday night, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

Authorities responded to The Earl at 488 Flat Shoals Ave in East Atlanta Village around 11:35 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found the security guard who had been shot. He was alert and breathing and taken to the hospital for medical treatment, according to APD.

Investigators believe the security guard was working at the lounge when he asked a group of "unruly" men to leave. An altercation between the security guard and the men escalated, and one of the men shot the security guard, APD said.

Atlanta Police said the men took off in what appeared to be a rideshare vehicle.

11Alive crews saw the front of the restaurant taped off with crime scene tape as police investigated overnight.
