Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States and a Georgia native, passed away on Dec. 29, 2024, a year after his death, Georgia's Own Credit Union is commemorating his legacy with a massive mural honoring him at 100 Peachtree. The illuminated portrait stretches 450 feet above downtown Atlanta, spanning the length of two basketball courts. The artist Dane Jefferson, who created the mural in 2022, said the mural reflects Carter's journey from his early life in Georgia to his presidency and global humanitarian work. The credit union's sign will remain illuminated until 11:59 p.m.
