Brian Kemp to return Georgia's National Guard soldiers from Washington, D.C. before the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays. The lawmakers cited safety concerns over a National Guard member being shot in Washington D.c. while responding to an operational confrontation. They also expressed concern about soldiers' prolonged separation from their families. The legislators have requested a written response within 10 business days from Kemp to detail steps his administration will take to reunite the soldiers with their families before the holiday season. They believe that prolonged operational separation increases the risk of chronic stress, anxiety and clinical depression for both deployed service members and their spouses and children.
