NASCAR has suspended Xfinity Series driver Josh Williams for one race after he parked his car at the start/finish line during Saturday’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

DGM Racing’s Josh Williams will not compete in next Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the Circuit of the Americas as NASCAR announced on Tuesday that they had suspended him from one race on Tuesday.

Debris from Williams’ No. 92 Chevrolet caused a warning flag to fly at Atlanta Motor Speedway last Saturday after the team tried to tape down the damage it sustained in a three-car car crash a few laps earlier.

As a result, Williams was told to take his car to the garage. But instead of doing so, he took “Park it” literally, stopping at the finish line before getting out of his car, waving to the stands and walking across the infield in what was quickly becoming one of NASCAR’s more viral moments of late Story.

Many understandably sided with Williams in the Antonio Brown-like incident, and the Port Charlotte, Fla., 29-year-old’s social media following has more than doubled since Saturday.

However, since NASCAR reserves the right to order a car off the track under the Xfinity Series rule book, the one-race suspension isn’t that much of a surprise.

Williams was officially found in violation of Section 4.3.A; 4.4.B & D; 8.7.6: Code of Conduct for NASCAR Members and In-race Violations for Failure to Comply with a NASCAR Requirement.

Williams, who has a top finish of 15th place at Daytona International Speedway and is 22nd overall from five starts this season, is presented on Saturday’s 1 Boss 250 by USA Today.

Alex Labbe will drive the #92 DGM Racing Chevrolet in Williams’ absence on Saturday.
